Add capability to "watch" discussion thread and receive notifications when new item is posted

Yes. Right now I believe that one check box, "Email Settings: Email forum posts" controls whether or not you receive notifications. I wish that I could control notifications for each discussion separately.
I see there hasn't been any feedback from administrators. Will you accept and then grant this wish? Any timeline.
I really see the forum/discussion feature as my preferred way to collaborate. Projects and notes are too cumbersome without any notification options and the comments related to notes are awkward too.

Just sitting down with someone that uses "blogger" to collaborate. After talking, it was clear that the "blog" feature and the "forum" feature are very similar and kind of redundant. She really likes the notification aspect of the "forum", and the ability to group categories and discussions. She agreed that it would be really great if we had the option of turning on or off the notification for specific discussions (like I was wishing above). On the down side, we also noticed that we can't add images to the forum post, which is a feature of most blog sites.
I wish that you could turn on and off notifications of individual discussions in the forum section and have the ability to add images to forum posts. If this was possible, the "blog" feature would be wholly redundant and could be deleted.

Yes! "I wish that you could turn on and off notifications of individual discussions in the forum section and have the ability to add images to forum posts." I completely agree!

Thank you for this great suggestion.
We have passed this onto HUBzero team and understand that they are already looking into ways to reduce email clutter and/or be selective in receiving notifications from discussion threads in a future release of the open source code.
