Transitioning to Predictive Analysis for Nanoparticle Biocorona Studies

Abstract

Nano WG April 18, 2019: Proteins adsorbed to nanomaterials in a biological environment mediate cellular recognition, uptake, and toxicity of nanomaterials. Here, Dr. Korin Wheeler presents the development of experimental methods to characterize this population of proteins (also known as the protein corona fingerprint), as well as computational methods to predict the protein population in an array of conditions. To support expanded modeling efforts in this area, I will also comment on best practice in methodology and reporting for studies of this kind. As we begin to meet the grand challenge of predicting the biochemical interactions of nanomaterials, we can further improve targeted nanomedicines and safe-by-design nanomaterials.
