About
The Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS) is a nationally-representative survey which has been administered every few years by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) since 2003. The HINTS target population is adults aged 18 or older in the civilian non-institutionalized population of the United States. HINTS tracks changes in the rapidly evolving health communication and information technology landscape. HINTS regularly collects nationally representative data about the American public’s knowledge of, attitudes toward, and use of cancer- and health-related information.
