| The European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC): overview and ontology related activities The European Materials Modelling Council has been founded in 2014 to create a network of stakeholders aimed to identify current status and issues in the field of materials modelling and to provide strategies for the European Commission funding program H2020. Among the many activities carried out by the EMMC, the European Materials Modelling Ontology (EMMO) is the one aimed to formalize within an ontology language the results of the standardization activities of the council, in order to facilitate the development of interoperability environments and translator's activities. By now, the development of the EMMO is shared between several H2020 projects (SimDOME, Marketplace, VIMMP, FORCE, EMMC-CSA) and will be the basic ontology for more to come.
